The journey to achieving my goals and dreams, one day at a time.

Work

So at work today I was told that I am my bosses main Editorial Assistant, and she thinks I’m the best. Harumph! She has me training a guy right now, and he’s getting it, which is good. She’s going to switch around my schedule a little bit so I’ll have a little more normal hours, but she also wants me doing a different job during the day that’s a little more important because she knows I’m the right guy for it. I’m also going to start writing for our website, NBCLA.com - I’m getting trained next week, then I’ll start posting some of my more interesting stories!

I was also invited out in the field with a few reporters, so I’m excited to get out there and work on my reel.

My boss also hinted that everyone likes me a lot, and if I keep up the good work it’s very possible I could get hired (rather promoted I suppose) as a Content Producer, which would be amazing! That would mean that I would have a much larger role in writing and producing the news, not to mention quite the pay raise :)

Anyway, that’s the quick update! My future roommates and I are going to look at houses on Monday in Encino to move into by the end of the month. Hope it goes well! My family is also coming down next week. On Tuesday we’re going to the Magic Castle in Hollywood, which is one of my favorite things in Los Angeles. If you don’t know about it, shoot me a question or look it up online! It’s incredible magic everywhere all the time. I also got my parents and brother tickets to Jay Leno on Wednesday. Good guests that day! On Friday we’re going to go to the opening of the Hollywood Bowl too. I can’t wait! It’s supposed to be a really cool event to kick off the Hollywood Bowl season.

More updates to come soon! I hope everyone is having a great June so far, and if you’re struggling, keep your head up! Just throw on a smile, you can’t even begin to imagine how much better it can make you feel :)

Drinking

I just got back from Vegas, and you know what? I’ve decided I don’t need to drink for a very long time. It can be fun, but something that can make your body feel so crappy can’t be good for you. Well, I know it’s not good for you, but you know what I mean. So am I putting an official end to drinking? No, but I’m not going to plan to go out and drink. If I end up drinking, so be it, but I’m not going to plan to get shwasted all the time. I think this is a good life decision, don’t you?

This is a picture of my guitar wall! I have JM up in the top left on canvas rockin out, Stevie in the top right groovin, my Two-Rock Studio Pro in the middle bottom. My La Cabronita Especial is the blue one farthest right, my John Mayer BLK1 83 is in the middle, my 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul is on the top, and next to my Two-Rock is my 1997 Custom Shop Jimi Hendrix Monterey Strat. Just a little set up! Still have two other guitars in the room, as well as 2 Jimi posters, another SRV poster, and 4 JM concert posters. Anyway, I thought I’d share now that my room is clean!

The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing.

Organized room, organized life!

Just did an awesome room cleaning session. It ended at approx. 2:45 - so you know it’s good! I picked up my guitar today from the store (had them fix something up for me on it), worked, picked up some great things that you put in your room and it makes everything smell great, and I cleaned my room like a boss. It’s now time for sleep, but I’ll post some pictures tomorrow of those smelly things, and I’ll post pictures of my guitars and artwork. Why not? Until tomorrow, good night!

Agent?

Just finished my midday workout. I’ve been trying to figure out lately how to find an agency to represent me. I’m not too familiar with how it works. Any suggestions for how to find a good agent in Hollywood?

Acting

I just watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and man do I love that movie. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, but I’m finally going to commit to it - I want to try acting. I live in Los Angeles, so really, there is no better time to try. So what am I going to do? I’m going to get in shape (I figure it’s easier to get a part the better you look), I’m going to maybe get an agent, and I’m going to go try out for parts/go to casting calls. Why not? You only live once, and I think it would be a really fun thing to do, and honestly, I think I’d be really good at it and have a lot of fun with it! You never know, I could go try out for a new TV pilot for NBC and end up being on the next Friends or the next How I Met Your Mother. The possibilities are endless! It’s just a matter of deciding - Let’s do this.
